Dess–Martin periodinane

Definition

Dess–Martin periodinane is a chemical reagent used in organic chemistry for the oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols to aldehydes and ketones, respectively, without overoxidizing to carboxylic acids. It is favored for its mildness and selectivity in these transformations.
