Definition

The World Press Freedom Index is an annual ranking of countries compiled by Reporters Without Borders, measuring the level of freedom journalists, news organizations, and netizens have in each country, as well as the efforts made by authorities to respect and ensure respect for this freedom. It assesses pluralism, media independence, the quality of legislative framework, and the safety of journalists in around 180 countries.
