Parliamentary regimes

Definition

A parliamentary regime is a form of government where the executive branch derives its democratic legitimacy from, and is accountable to, the legislature (parliament); the head of government is usually a prime minister. In this system, the separation of powers between executive and legislative branches is less pronounced than in presidential systems.
