Justifying a Claim

Definition

Justifying a claim involves providing evidence or reasoning to support or prove its validity. In statistics, it refers to presenting data analysis, statistical tests, or logical arguments to back up an assertion or conclusion.

Analogy

Imagine you want to convince your parents to let you go on a trip with your friends. You gather information about where you'll go, what activities you'll do, and how responsible everyone will be. Justifying your claim in statistics is similar - you collect and analyze data, perform tests, and provide logical explanations to persuade others that your conclusion is valid.
