Definition

Expectancy theory is a psychological framework that suggests people are motivated to perform certain behaviors based on their belief in the likelihood of achieving desired outcomes. It posits that individuals will be more motivated if they believe their efforts will lead to successful performance and if they perceive that successful performance will result in valuable rewards.
