Definition

Voltage refers to the electric potential difference between two points in an electrical circuit. It represents the amount of energy that each unit of charge possesses.

Analogy

Think of voltage as the pressure in a water pipe. Just like high pressure pushes water through a pipe, high voltage pushes electric charges through a circuit.
