Definition

Velocity refers to the rate at which an object changes its position in a specific direction. It is a vector quantity that includes both speed and direction.

Analogy

Imagine you are driving a car on a straight road. The velocity of your car would be how fast you are going (speed) and in which direction you are heading (north, south, east, or west).
