Qualitative/quantitative translation

Definition

Qualitative/quantitative translation refers to the process of converting qualitative information (descriptions, observations) into quantitative data (numbers, measurements). It involves assigning numerical values or categories to qualitative data in order to analyze and compare it.

Analogy

Imagine you have a collection of colorful jelly beans. To organize them by color, you could assign each color a number and create a tally chart. This way, you can easily see how many jelly beans are in each color category. Similarly, qualitative/quantitative translation is like assigning numbers or categories to qualitative data so that it can be organized and analyzed effectively.
