Definition

A quadratic relationship is a mathematical relationship between two variables that can be represented by a quadratic equation, where the variable is raised to the power of 2.

Analogy

Imagine you have a water balloon. As you fill it with water, its size increases quadratically - if you double the amount of water, the size doesn't just double, but it increases four times!
