An FRQ, or Free Response Question, is a type of essay question that requires students to analyze and interpret a given text or literary work. It allows students to demonstrate their understanding of the text and their ability to construct a well-organized and supported argument.
Think of an FRQ as a puzzle that you have to solve using evidence from the text. Just like putting together puzzle pieces, you need to carefully examine the details in the text and fit them together in your response.
Thesis statement: A clear and concise statement that presents the main argument or claim of an essay.
Evidence: Specific examples, quotes, or details from the text that support your thesis statement.
Analysis: The process of examining and interpreting the significance or meaning of textual evidence in relation to your thesis statement.
