Geometric Data

Definition

Geometric data refers to the type of data in a GIS that’s associated with geographic datasets. It includes points (0D), lines (1D), polygons (2D), and solids (3D).

Analogy

Imagine you're building a model city out of LEGO blocks. Each block represents geometric data - some are points (like lampposts), some are lines (roads), some are polygons (buildings) and some might even be 3D solids (skyscrapers).
