Fresh vegetables are plant parts consumed as food that have not been processed or preserved and are still in their natural state.
Imagine you're an artist with a blank canvas (the fresh vegetable). You can paint it any color you want (cook it any way you like), but once you've painted it (cooked/processed it), you can't go back to having a blank canvas again (its fresh state).
Organic Farming: A method of crop and livestock production that involves much more than choosing not to use pesticides, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms; its system is based on ecosystem management rather than input usage only.
Locavore Movement: A movement aiming to connect food producers and consumers in the same geographic region; to develop more self-reliant and resilient food networks, improve local economies or impact on health, environment, community etc.
Food Miles: The distance food is transported from the time of its production until it reaches the consumer; used as an indicator for environmental impact or sustainability.
