Definition

The European Parliament is the legislative branch of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. It represents the citizens of EU member states and makes decisions on laws, budgets, and other important issues.

Analogy

Think of the European Parliament like a school's student council where representatives from each grade (in this case, country) come together to make decisions that affect everyone in the school (the EU).
