In geography, concentric rings refer to a model that describes the layout of a city. It suggests that urban areas grow in a series of rings expanding out from the city center.
Think of an onion. Each layer or ring of the onion represents different parts of the city, with the core or center being downtown and each subsequent layer representing different zones like residential areas, business districts, etc.
Urbanization: The process by which towns and cities are formed and become larger as more people begin living and working in central areas.
Zoning Laws: Legal restrictions on land use that determine what types of building and economic activities are allowed to take place in certain areas.
Suburbanization: The process of population movement from within towns and cities to the rural-urban fringe.
