The September 11 attacks occurred on September 11, 2001 when terrorists hijacked four airplanes, crashing two into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, one into the Pentagon near Washington D.C., while passengers fought back against terrorists aboard another plane causing it to crash into a field in Pennsylvania.
