Definition

These are measures taken by government officials or agencies intended to achieve policy goals.

Analogy

Imagine your school administration as 'the government'. Their decisions on things like school timings, uniform policies etc., are their 'actions'. Just like how these actions affect your daily school life, government actions impact citizens' lives at local, state and national levels.
