Definition

Diversity refers to understanding that each individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs or other ideologies.

Analogy

Think of diversity like a box of assorted chocolates. Each piece is different in shape and flavor but they all come together to make up one delicious box.

Inclusion: The practice or policy of providing equal access to opportunities and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized.

Multiculturalism: The presence of, or support for the presence of several distinct cultural or ethnic groups within a society.

Intersectionality: A concept often used in critical theories to describe the ways in which oppressive institutions (racism, sexism, homophobia etc.) are interconnected and cannot be examined separately from one another.
