Refugee Crisis

Definition

The Refugee Crisis refers to periods when large numbers of people are forced to leave their home country due to reasons such as war, persecution or natural disasters and seek asylum elsewhere.

Analogy

Imagine if your house (country) suddenly became unsafe because of a fire (war/persecution). You'd need somewhere else safe to stay temporarily or permanently - this is what refugees experience on a much larger scale.
