Definition

Linkage institutions are channels through which citizens' concerns become political issues on the government's agenda, such as political parties, interest groups, and the media.

Analogy

Imagine linkage institutions as bridges connecting people's concerns to the government. Just like bridges facilitate movement from one place to another, linkage institutions facilitate the flow of public opinion into politics.
