The belief that a ruler's authority comes directly from a higher power, such as God, and cannot be questioned by the people.
Imagine a video game where the main character has special powers given to them by a divine being. These powers make them invincible and give them complete control over the game world. In the same way, rulers who believe in divine right feel like they have been granted special powers and authority from a higher power.
Absolutism: A form of government where the ruler holds absolute power and is not limited by laws or other governing bodies.
Monarchy: A system of government where a single individual, usually a king or queen, holds supreme power.
Autocracy: A type of government where one person has unlimited power and authority over others.
