Sublimation is the process in which a substance changes from a solid to a gas without passing through the liquid state.
Imagine you're making popcorn. The kernel (solid) pops and turns directly into popcorn (gas), skipping the liquid phase. That's sublimation!
Phase Change: A change from one state (solid, liquid, gas) to another without a change in chemical composition.
Deposition: The direct transformation of a gas into a solid without going through the intermediate liquid phase.
Triple Point: The specific temperature and pressure at which all three phases (solid, liquid, and gas) of a substance can coexist in equilibrium.
