Static Equilibrium

Definition

Static equilibrium is when forces on an object are balanced, resulting in no movement or change. In chemistry, it refers to a reaction where no forward or backward reactions are occurring.

Analogy

Imagine you're playing tug-of-war. If both teams are pulling with the same strength, nobody moves - that's static equilibrium!
