Definition

Salt water is an example of an aqueous solution where salt (sodium chloride) is the solute and water is the solvent.

Analogy

Imagine you're at the beach and you accidentally swallow some seawater. That salty taste? That's because sea water is essentially salt water - it's like nature's own soup with salt (sodium chloride) mixed into water!
