Nonelectrolyte

Definition

A nonelectrolyte is a substance that doesn't dissociate into ions when dissolved in water and therefore does not conduct electricity.

Analogy

Imagine trying to use wooden logs to conduct electricity. Just like wood doesn't allow electricity to pass through it, nonelectrolytes don't break up into ions to carry electrical charge when they dissolve in water.
