The heat of combustion is the total energy released as heat when a substance undergoes complete combustion with oxygen under standard conditions.
Think of the heat of combustion like a fireworks show. When you light up a firework (combustion), it releases all its energy in one big, spectacular display (heat). The bigger and more complex the firework, the more impressive the show - just like how different substances release different amounts of energy during combustion.
Enthalpy (∆H): This is the heat content of a system at constant pressure. It's like the total amount of "fireworks" you have to put on your show.
Combustion Reaction: This is a chemical reaction that occurs between any combustible material and an oxidizer to form an oxidized product. It's like lighting up your firework - without this step, there's no show!
Exothermic Process: This is any process which releases energy in the form of light or heat. It's what happens when your firework goes off - all that stored-up energy gets released into the sky!
