This is the process where a substance, typically an acid, donates or gives away a hydrogen ion (H+) to another substance.
Think of H+ Ion Donation like sharing your lunch with a friend. You're the acid and you have an extra sandwich (the H+ ion) that you give to your friend (another substance).
Acid: A substance that can donate a proton or accept an electron pair in reactions.
Proton Donor: Another term for an acid, referring to its ability to donate a proton (H+ ion).
Bronsted-Lowry Acid: This is a more specific definition of acids, named after two scientists. It refers to any molecule or ion that can donate a hydrogen ion in a reaction.
