Coupled Reaction

Definition

A coupled reaction is a process in which the energy released from one spontaneous reaction is used to drive a non-spontaneous reaction. In other words, the energy produced by an exergonic (spontaneous) reaction is utilized to power an endergonic (non-spontaneous) reaction.
