Alkali metals

Definition

Alkali metals are a group of elements in the periodic table that include lithium, sodium, potassium, and others. They are known for their reactivity and ability to readily lose one electron to form a +1 cation.

Analogy

Think of alkali metals as enthusiastic party-goers who always want to be the life of the party. They are so eager to join another group (lose an electron) that they easily leave their own group behind.
