Sister Chromatids

Definition

Sister chromatids are identical copies of a single chromosome that are connected by a centromere. They are created during the S phase of interphase and later separated during anaphase.

Analogy

Consider sister chromatids as twins holding hands. They're identical because they come from the same parent (chromosome) and they hold hands at their center (centromere). When it's time for them to go to different schools (anaphase), they let go of each other's hand and move apart.
