Definition
Neurofilaments are a type of intermediate filament found in neurons. They provide structural support for the neuron and help to maintain the shape and integrity of the nerve cell.
These are another component of the cytoskeleton that helps maintain cell shape and is involved in many cellular processes including mitosis and intracellular transport.
Axon: This is a long projection of a neuron that carries electrical impulses away from the neuron's cell body.
Dendrites: These are short branched extensions of a nerve cell, along which impulses received from other cells at synapses are transmitted to the cell body.
