Definition

Heritable variations refer to differences in characteristics among individuals within a population that can be passed down from parents to offspring through genes.

Analogy

Imagine you're baking cookies using various recipes (genes). The resulting cookies (offspring) will have different flavors, shapes, and sizes based on their respective recipes - these are your heritable variations!
