G1 Checkpoint

Definition

This checkpoint occurs in the G1 phase of the cell cycle and checks for conditions favorable for DNA replication, including sufficient energy resources, nutrients, and absence of DNA damage.

Analogy

Consider G1 checkpoint as a bouncer at a club's entrance. It only allows entry if all conditions are met - you're dressed appropriately (no damaged DNA), you have enough money for drinks (sufficient energy resources), and it's not too crowded inside (enough nutrients).
