Chemical experiments involve combining or manipulating substances to observe the resulting chemical reactions, often to test a hypothesis or understand a chemical process.
Think of chemical experiments like baking. You combine different ingredients (substances) in specific ways and amounts, apply heat (energy), and then observe what happens - does it rise? Does it turn brown? The results can help you understand how different ingredients interact.
Chemical Reaction: A process that leads to the transformation of one set of chemical substances into another.
Hypothesis: An educated guess or prediction that can be tested through experimentation.
Control Group: In an experiment, this is the group that does not receive the experimental treatment, providing a baseline against which to compare the results of the experiment.
