Definition

X-linked dominant inheritance is a pattern where a gene mutation causing a trait or disorder is located on the X chromosome and manifests in individuals who have just one copy of that mutated gene. This means both males (XY) and females (XX) can be affected, but the condition often presents differently between them due to females having two X chromosomes.
