Pyramidal decussation

Definition

The pyramidal decussation is the point in the medulla oblongata where the nerve fibers from the motor cortex of one side of the brain cross to the opposite side of the body. This crossing allows for the brain's motor signals to control movements on the contralateral (opposite) side of the body.
