Glucagon

Definition

Glucagon is a hormone produced by the alpha cells in the pancreas that raises blood glucose levels by promoting the conversion of stored glycogen to glucose in the liver. It plays a critical role in glucose homeostasis, especially during periods of fasting or low blood sugar.
