Flexor retinaculum

Definition

The flexor retinaculum is a strong, fibrous band that stretches across the front of the carpal tunnel at the wrist, holding the tendons of the flexor muscles in place. It assists in the smooth movement and operation of these tendons as they contract and relax during hand movements.
