Exocytosis

Definition

Exocytosis is a cellular process where cells transport molecules out of the cell by vesicles fusing with the plasma membrane and releasing their contents into the extracellular space. This process is essential for the secretion of substances produced by cells, such as hormones and neurotransmitters.
