Definition

Continuous capillaries are the most common type of capillaries found in the body, characterized by a continuous endothelial lining without gaps between endothelial cells, except for intercellular clefts. They allow for the exchange of water, small solutes, and lipid-soluble materials between blood and surrounding tissues while limiting the passage of larger molecules and blood cells.
