Chromaffin cells are specialized cells located in the adrenal medulla, part of the adrenal gland, which release adrenaline and noradrenaline into the bloodstream in response to stress signals from the autonomic nervous system. These hormones prepare the body for a 'fight or flight' response by increasing heart rate, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels.
