Definition

The body of the uterus is the largest section of the uterus, situated between the cervix at its base and the fundus at its top, where it plays a central role in supporting and nourishing a developing fetus during pregnancy. It is composed of a thick layer of muscle (myometrium) and lined with mucous membrane (endometrium) that thickens in preparation for pregnancy.
