Definition

Beta-adrenergic receptors are proteins located on the surface of cells within various tissues, such as the heart, lungs, and muscles, that bind to epinephrine and norepinephrine, triggering physiological responses related to the fight or flight response. These receptors play a crucial role in modulating cardiovascular function, respiratory rates, and metabolic processes under the influence of the sympathetic nervous system.
