Ascending tracts

Definition

Ascending tracts are bundles of nerve fibers in the spinal cord that transmit sensory information from the peripheral body parts to the brain. They carry signals related to touch, temperature, pain, and proprioception (the sense of body position) upwards through the central nervous system.
