Definition

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is the highest federal court in the United States and serves as the ultimate arbiter of federal constitutional law. It consists of nine Justices, including one Chief Justice and eight Associate Justices, who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate.
