A nation-state is a form of political organization under which a relatively homogeneous people inhabits a sovereign state, especially one in which the government has sovereignty over a defined territory and the authority to make and enforce laws within that territory. It represents both the cultural identity of a people and the legal framework that establishes their political governance.
