The Iran Nuclear Deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is an agreement reached in 2015 between Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security CouncilโChina, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United Statesโplus Germany) along with the European Union. The deal aimed to ensure that Iran's nuclear program would be exclusively peaceful by imposing limitations and rigorous inspections in exchange for lifting economic sanctions on Iran.
