AP Psychology
Unit 7 – Motivation, Emotion, and Personality
Topic 7.10
Why can it be ethically problematic when using personality assessments such as the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) without providing feedback?
Non-disclosure will lead to invalidity due to respondent’s ignorance about their performance on the test.
It denies individuals their right to understand their own psychological status.
The MMPI takes a long time to complete so immediate feedback should be provided as compensation for time spent.
The test may provoke emotional distress in some individuals if they don't get feedback immediately after completion.
