How did our perception evolve regarding neurons' ability to regenerate after injury?
From the belief that only brain neurons can regenerate, we now believe all neurons have this ability.
It changed from believing neurons cannot regenerate at all to acknowledging limited regeneration in certain conditions.
Initially considered fully regenerative, we now know they have no ability to heal themselves.
There has been no significant change in our understanding of neuronal regeneration over time.
