AP US Government
Unit 5 – Political Participation
Topic 5.1
Why does the prospective voting model differ from the party-line voting model?
Party-line refers to non-voters who don't participate in elections while prospective refers to regular attendees who never miss an election cycle.
Prospective voters only ever vote for one specific political party whilst those who follow a party-line flip-flop often between different parties.
Prospective voters anticipate the outcomes of elections based upon candidate promises about future actions whereas party-line voters primarily align with a political party regardless of individual candidate platforms.
Prospective voter relies solely on media influence when deciding whom to vote for as opposed to a party-line voter relying solely on personal bias towards candidates' physical appearances.
