Step-growth polymers

from class:

Organic Chemistry

Definition

Step-growth polymers are polymers formed by the reaction of bifunctional or multifunctional monomers, where bonds form between functional groups in a stepwise fashion, leading to high molecular weight polymers. This process contrasts with chain-growth polymerization by involving all monomers at once rather than adding monomers one at a time.

congrats on reading the definition of Step-growth polymers. now let's actually learn it.
